The WHY in learning and WHY we should care.
Dec 11, 2024Whether you homeschool or your child goes to a school building, one thing you can do to help them build as a lifelong learner is ensure your child understands the "why" behind their lessons. Why do they need to learn math, history, or science? This understanding creates deeper engagement and a more meaningful learning experience. If they think it is only for the test or to get the job, then they have missed out on the actual purpose of education.
Learning is supposed to be about connecting ideas, trial and error, supporting your arguments. It isn’t about the answer until it is first about learning how to get to the answer. Once you know how to take something apart and put it back together, you then know enough to innovate and make it better.
That is why we need to not rush to the answer, but track our work and follow the process of learning.
